Korean Skincare 101

Korean beauty products have been growing 300% from 2016 to 2018 in the Western market. What makes the Korean skincare different is that we focus on prevention, protection, and natural healing rather than covering up.

Prevention can occur with the proper routine and self-care, which is deeply rooted in Korean culture. We often say that “All the Steps From A to Z”, respect your skin and bring it to its healthiest status through a multitude of gentle steps. Cleansing, toning, moisturizing, nourishing, and trying not to skip any step is the key.

Korean skincare focuses more on beautifying the skin rather than covering it with makeup, which was a traditional Western ideal that has since been challenged. The most central concept and foundational goal of Korean skincare is hydration. Korean skincare trends, like “glass skin” or “honey skin,” highlight the benefits of hydrated skin as an aesthetic goal; the more moisturized, hydrated, and functioning your skin layers are, the more plump, dewy, and healthy your skin becomes. Beyond hydration, other skincare concerns primarily related to aging include hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and dehydrated skin. Koreans start routine skincare when they are young, visiting a bath house regularly and exfoliating and hydrating their skin.

The aging process is a natural phenomenon; however, we can prolong and prevent it by caring and being conscious of it. Protecting the skin from Sun exposure is a preventive measure that reduces photo-aging and prevents the skin from losing hydration quickly.

Among our main ingredients, Ginseng, snail mucin, and fermented rice water are traditional natural sources that promote effective natural treatment.  These ingredients, novel to the western beauty sphere, introduce a new potential for not only innovative treatment but also innovation in one’s routine. There is nothing more notable about Korean skincare than its promotion of a multi-step skincare routine. In this, skincare is not only about protection and prevention, it’s about the ritual itself, and the respect for your body and soul.

The various possibilities you may choose from to design your unique treatment routine all derive from three core activities: cleanse, hydrate, and protect. Here at KATbySun, we promote a methodology of Korean skincare that is traditional in its tenets but unique in its offerings.

We hope that our patented technologies and cultivated ingredients help you to discover your beauty and start to love self-care. Glow with us and stay healthy with us.
